Hi and welcome to Joyful Loving Life LLC! I’m Amy, and I am so happy you have found your way here!

One of my greatest sources of joy and fulfillment has been living my life in service to people of diverse identities and abilities. Serving others has long been my calling, and I thrive on empowering people–like you–in overcoming whatever challenges they are experiencing to live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives. As the middle of three daughters, I was a nurturer, healer, playmate, protector, and peace maker. I was the one to get a band-aid when someone in my family got hurt, start a “Problem Solvers” club with my little sister to resolve arguments, rescue baby birds and adopted stray cats, be selected as a peer mentor in high school to help international students make new friends and adjust to life in America, become a swimming teacher and lifeguard, and take on leadership roles in college and my careers. I am a mom of two wonderful, multi-talented adult children. I had left my career as an archaeologist and college professor to raise my children, both of whom were diagnosed with special needs at a young age. I gave them the extra time, love, attention, patience, and support they each needed to build the skills and confidence they needed to graduate from high school, attend college, and live the thriving and healthy lives they have now. Focusing so much on the well-being of my children and family, though, took its toll on my own mental and physical health. In 2010 I was hospitalized twice–first with severe depression after a suicide attempt, and then a second time with a severe double kidney infection. By the grace of God, I survived. There is a saying: you can’t pour from an empty cup. These threats to my life were my wake up call to start prioritizing myself and taking better care of health. That year, I started running and eating healthier. I started meditating in 2011, completed my first triathlon in 2013, and became a yoga teacher in 2016. Then, after twenty years in a toxic and abusive marriage, I found the courage and strength to leave. Joining the 12-Step programs AlAnon and CoDA were life-transforming, and in the years that followed, I learned how to reclaim and rebuild my life into the one that I love living now! Completing certification as a Thriving Relationships Coach in 2023 was equally empowering, as it taught me that the truly loving and supportive relationship that I desired and deserved was indeed possible for me. Within months, I found my current partner. He is kind, fun, calm, patient, supportive, a great father to his own three adult sons, and the love of my life. I completed training as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, followed by a Coaching Intensive Practicum in 2025 and launched Joyful Loving Life LLC later that year. Thanks to the love and support of my loving partner and a need to, once again, attend to my mental health, that I found the courage to take the scary leap in leaving my stressful full time desk job as a supervisor in human services to expand into my very quickly growing small business.
As a woman, parent, partner, daughter, sister, athlete, teacher, coach, and service provider, I understand how challenging it can be to navigate through the daily stressors of life, while trying to create the best possible life for ourselves and the people we love. I have learned how essential self-care and having the right support are to prevent overwhelm, illness, and burnout. I view my life transformation as an ongoing, lifelong, and growth-minded one in which I now view the challenges that arise in life as opportunities for learning, deepening my faith, and personal growth. The journey to be where I am today has been one of learning how to overcome my own challenges, shortcomings, limitations, and insecurities. And also of using my skills, strengths, and experiences to support others in overcoming their own!
I created Joyful Loving Life LLC to share the life transforming benefits of yoga, meditation, mindfulness, holistic health, and thriving relationships coaching with you, the people you care about, and our community. I enjoy taking an individualized, collaborative, supportive, and non-judgmental approach to get to know you, your needs, the goals you want to achieve, and the obstacles that have been standing in the way of meeting your goals, and I provide you with the personalized support and steady encouragement to help you succeed!
